Step-by-Step Ritual for Jalabhishek

Whenever you visit a temple during Sawan to perform Jalabhishek, follow this sequence:

• Offer water first to Lord Ganesh, who sits on the right side of Lord Shiv.
• Next, pour water over Lord Kartikey, on the left side.
• Offer water to Ashok Sundari, positioned in the middle of the Shivling structure.
• Then, pour water for Goddess Parvati, followed by Lord Shiv himself.
• Afterward, offer water to Vasuki Nag, the serpent wrapped around the Shivling.
• Finally, complete the ritual by offering water to Nandi Maharaj, Lord Shiv’s devoted vehicle.

Why Devotees Clap Three Times After Jalabhishek?

After completing the ritual, devotees often clap three times, each with spiritual significance:

• First Clap: To inform Lord Shiv of your presence in his temple.
• Second Clap: To humbly seek Shiv’s continued blessings.
• Third Clap: To request Mahadev to remove sorrows, negativity, and pain from your life.
• Once done, raise both hands and chant “Har Har Mahadev” to conclude the ritual.
