The ongoing Mahakumbh, a grand celebration of faith and spirituality, has drawn an ocean of devotees and sadhus from across the country. Amid the vibrant crowd, one unique figure has captured the imagination of visitors—a baba from Mathura with an astonishing 11-foot-long beard.

The Daadhi Wale Baba, as he is now popularly known, has become a sensation at the Kumbh. His beard, which requires multiple people to handle when fully unfurled, is not just a marvel of dedication but also a testament to his 40 years of patience and discipline. Alongside his beard, the baba also maintains long matted hair (jatas), further adding to his unique appearance.
Another intriguing story comes from the Juna Akhada, where Abhay Singh, an IIT graduate, made waves before his mysterious disappearance. Dubbed the IIT Baba, Abhay’s transformation from an academic to a spiritual seeker fascinated many. A video of him dancing enthusiastically to the bhajan "Mera Bhola Bada Bhola Hai" recently went viral, adding to his mystique. The video, reportedly shot at the Juna Akhada, shows Abhay in high spirits, dancing alongside another sadhu, though the date of the footage remains unclear.

The Maha Kumbh Mela 2025, which commenced on January 13, has already witnessed over 88.1 million devotees taking a holy dip at the Sangam, with approximately 1.597 million pilgrims participating on January 19 alone. The event will conclude on February 26, Maha Shivaratri, symbolising unity and India’s rich spiritual heritage.
