The Maha Kumbh Mela 2025, one of the largest religious gatherings in the world, has embraced modern technology to assist the millions of pilgrims attending the event. In response to the massive influx of devotees, the Prayagraj administration has established an AI-powered computerized lost and found centre, ensuring safety and seamless reunions for those separated from their families.
The centre, a first-of-its-kind initiative, offers support such as temporary accommodation, clothing, and meals for lost individuals. Additional Mela Adhikari Vivek Chaturvedi highlighted the effectiveness of the setup, stating, “There has not been a single case in which we have not been able to reunite children or lost people with their relatives. In situations where a reunion is not immediately possible, the administration takes the individual to their home at its own expense.”
This tech-driven solution has been widely appreciated for its role in simplifying the process of locating missing individuals amidst the vast crowds, further enhancing the overall experience of the Maha Kumbh for devotees.
Adding to the grandeur of this year’s Maha Kumbh, a 21-member delegation representing 10 countries arrived at the Arail Tent City on January 15. Invited by the Ministry of External Affairs’ External Publicity and Public Diplomacy Division, the international delegation includes participants from Fiji, Finland, Guyana, Malaysia, Mauritius, Singapore, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Trinidad and Tobago, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The group is set to take a holy dip at the sacred Triveni Sangam on January 16. Their itinerary also includes a heritage walk to explore Prayagraj’s rich cultural and historical legacy, followed by a breathtaking helicopter ride offering an aerial view of the sprawling Maha Kumbh area. Accommodation and dining arrangements have been thoughtfully organized at the Arail Tent City by the Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation.
This global representation underscores the increasing international recognition of the Maha Kumbh Mela, celebrated for its spiritual significance and cultural richness.
