Amid diplomatic row, Trudeau discusses India with UK PM Starmer

India-Canada relations have reached a new low, fuelled by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's accusations that India was involved in the June 2023 killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Nijjar in British Columbia. The Indian government dismissed the allegations as "absurd" and politically motivated, accusing Trudeau of pandering to vote bank politics. Canada has since declared the Indian High Commissioner and other diplomats as ‘persons of interest’ in an investigation but has failed to provide any evidence to support its claims. Trudeau has sought international support, discussing the issue with UK PM Keir Starmer, but tensions remain high.
