The Nifty index reached a new high, surpassing 24,500, while the Sensex surged over 600 points. The benchmark indices outperformed the broader markets, although market breadth was tilted towards losers, with an advance-decline ratio of 2:3. The IT index surged over 4%, driven by a strong performance from TCS in Q1. Energy and FMCG sectors were among the gainers, while realty, PSU banks, and autos lagged.
