Indian CA’s viral moment with Sundar Pichai at New Delhi AI Summit

A light-hearted exchange between Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai and a young, chartered accountant-turned-YouTuber at the AI Summit in New Delhi has gone viral on social media, drawing attention amid discussions on artificial intelligence and global technology leadership.

The moment unfolded inside the summit venue when YouTuber Anant Ladha found himself seated just a couple of chairs away from Pichai. Seizing the opportunity, Ladha walked up to the Alphabet chief and struck up an unusual conversation, one that began with humour and ended with a selfie.

Sharing the experience on X, Ladha wrote that he told Pichai, “Sir, you give me money every month,” leaving the Google CEO momentarily puzzled. When Ladha clarified that he earns through YouTube, Pichai reportedly laughed, and the icebreaker led to a casual discussion on mindset and future growth. Calling it a “fanboy moment,” Ladha said the interaction felt surreal and memorable.

Viral moment sparks debate

The post quickly gained traction, with many users applauding Ladha’s confidence and Pichai’s openness. One user described Pichai as a figure Indians take pride in globally, arguing that while brain drain is often criticised, leaders like him enhance India’s soft power on the world stage. The comment added that the country now needs more innovation-driven companies like Google to fuel long-term growth.

Others, however, were more critical. Some questioned the nature of the summit itself, suggesting it had drifted from serious policy discussion into an influencer-centric spectacle with little relevance to the broader audience.

Several users focused instead on Pichai’s personality, praising him as approachable and grounded. One commenter said they admired how easily he engages with people and hoped to meet him someday, echoing a common sentiment seen under the viral post.

Beyond the viral moment, Pichai also delivered a substantive address at the summit, speaking in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and global leaders. He described artificial intelligence as the most significant platform shift of a generation, while cautioning that its benefits are not guaranteed.

Pichai stressed that collaboration would be key to unlocking AI’s potential, calling for joint efforts between governments and the private sector. He said governments must balance regulation with innovation by adopting AI in public services while setting clear safeguards. At the same time, he urged companies to build tools that enhance productivity, knowledge, and creativity, warning that businesses across industries must embrace AI to stay competitive.
