A woman in Canada found her wallet on a beach eight months after it fell from a boat, a CHEK news report said.
Marcie Callawaert, a resident of an island near Tofino in British Columbia, found her wallet, which had fallen into an ocean in June 2023, while walking her dogs on a beach and immediately realised it was her lost belonging.
“I knew right away. It stopped me right in my tracks," Callwaert told CHEK News on Thursday.
Callwaert took to Instagram to share a photo of the wallet and wrote that she was hoping the winter winds would bring the belonging to the beach after efforts from a diver to help recover the wallet went in vain.
"Yesterday, while walking the dogs, I found my wallet that I dropped from the boat 8 months ago! I had a diver come look for it, I snorkeled to look for it, and there was nothing to be found."
"I held out hope that it had stayed nearby and the winter wind and swells would bring it to the beach, and over the past few days, it finally washed up!" she wrote on Instagram.
The lost wallet had $20 in cash and all of Callwaert's cards. After losing her wallet in June, Callwaert had recorded a video on TikTok, describing how the belonging had gone missing and after finding the wallet again, decided to update the world that she had found her lost wallet.
"I'd already filmed it and posted it (to TikTok) eight months ago, so I might as well post the update because no one is going to believe me," she said.
