The IMD's forecast predicts heavy rainfall and thunderstorms in Dehradun, prompting the district administration to shut down all government and private schools, as well as colleges and anganwadi centres. Parents and school officials have been advised to monitor weather conditions closely and prioritize safety.

The affected districts are Dehradun, Haridwar, Nainital, and Udham Singh Nagar.

Haridwar has also been affected, with all educational institutions and anganwadi centres closing until September 14. Authorities are urging schools to ensure student safety and stay updated on weather changes.

In Nainital, schools and anganwadi centres will remain closed on September 12 and 13 due to the anticipated heavy rain. Residents are advised to exercise caution and adhere to safety guidelines.

Udham Singh Nagar has implemented a similar closure until September 14, with a focus on safeguarding students and their families. The district administration has urged residents to stay informed about weather conditions and avoid unnecessary travel.

Additionally, snowfall has been reported in the higher reaches of Garhwal, with significant rainfall in both Kumaon and Garhwal regions. Pilgrims traveling to Kedarnath are stranded as the Sonprayag-Gaurikund road is closed. Hotels in Gaurikund are offering accommodation at a reduced rate for stranded pilgrims.

The Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority has instructed all district magistrates to take comprehensive precautions. The IMD has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in various districts, potentially leading to waterlogging and landslides. Residents are advised to stock up on essentials and avoid traveling unless absolutely necessary.
