A US woman who moved to New Delhi shared how she finds the milk in India to be far superior to that available in America, and that she loves the taste of the Indian creamy milk. Kristen Fischer, who runs a design agency with her husband, recently shared a video on Instagram explaining how the milk in India was different from that available in the US.

“It wasn’t until I moved to India that I realised something like milk can differ between countries,” Fischer said, adding that she was surprised to find out that India accounts for over a quarter of all milk consumption in the world. "I love milk in India, I always thought it was better here and could never figure out why. However, it occurred to me that the cream content in the milk is much higher in India. I love creamy milk as much as the next person, yet, in America, people tend to prioritise low-fat options over rich taste."

Fischer, who moved to India in 2021, listed the types of milk available in America and stated that the most popular variants were full (around 3.5 per cent), skimmed (fat-free), 1 per cent, and 2 per cent. Indian milk, on the other hand, is often richer and creamier.

“Double-toned milk has about 1 per cent fat, toned milk has 3 per cent, standardised milk comes with around 4.5 per cent fat, and full cream milk goes up to 6 per cent,” Fischer said in the video. She believed India had an advantage in this area. “They know how to make a good chai or dessert with high cream content to maximise the taste of their food... This is where India is superior,” she said.

Fischer also clarified that there were more types of milk, other than what she listed. “I just wanted to simplify the comparison with the most common ones,” she said.

Instagram users appreciated how Fischer explained the difference in milk quality between the two countries.

"Consuming milk is indeed a very important part of almost every Indian's daily life! Also used in many forms like dahi, paneer, etc. These some people buy A2 cow milk also," wrote Priya B (blessed_soul_on_a_quest). "America with mostly A1 protein vs Indian cows have A2 protein. In America it's so expensive to get A2 milk, that's what I get for my kid," Haripriya Sharma (haripriyasharma) commented. "Thanks for laying out the differences on those milk categories," added Instagram user PR (prgenx).
