A woman from Goa, who was trolled after she praised the Mumbai Metro for saving her day, has responded after she was slammed for her post. Sameera, who goes by the user handle @sameeracan on X, had shared her positive experience after a metro journey in the city prevented her from getting late for a wedding function. She was criticised for “glorifying” the routine commute for urban population after her post swiftly gained traction online.

For the unversed, Sameera, who is the head for People Success at inFeedo, shared a post after her joyful experience aboard the metro in Maximum City. While she was there for a wedding, she checked into a hotel to get ready with her friends. The venue was 30 minutes away as shown by Google Maps so the group decided to leave by 7 pm. Little did they know that traffic could play a possible spoilsport in their plans.

“At 7 PM Google maps: Destination is 1 hour 30 mins away. At that point, we knew we would be pretty late and possibly miss the event. We took the hotel cab hoping for a miracle. He tried. 20 minutes had passed and the cab had not moved at all. We were stuck in a traffic Tetris.”

Soon, they spotted a metro station and decided to take a metro to the destination. In all their decked-up state. Praising Mumbai’s spirit and the fact that none of the commuters were bothered by them, the woman wrote, “This is what I love about Mumbai - nobody cared that we were a bunch of over- dressed strangers running for our lives. The metro was crowded but people were kind, the AC kept our body and mind cool. After a little shouting, screaming and running we made it to the venue in 30 minutes! Cab+ Metro+ Auto saved the day. You gotta love Mumbai.”

However, Sameera’s heartwarming experience was not received well by social media users who trolled her “flaunting” an extremely common scenario in the urban setup.

“What weird logic is this? You can literally do this in any big Indian city,” a user wrote. Another user commented, “You were wearing ethnic not a clown's dress. Why would anyone react strangely even in any other mode of transportation in any other city?”

“Ye jo inka struggle hai, ye mera daily routine hai (The struggle that they are describing is my daily routine),” a third user remarked.

As per post garnered massive attention, Sameera responded to the backlash with a savage tweet. "Woo, this blew up," she wrote.

"For those who don't enjoy taking metros: I'm hiring for a bunch of remote roles http://jobs.infeedo.com," she wrote further, adding, "For those who do: take your nearest metro to the nearest bus/train/plane to Goa and check out my cafe. https://shorturl.at/ampIY."

Netizens were quick to praise her for her reaction and called it classy, witty and smooth in the comments section.
