Swiggy Instamart witnessed a surge in orders this Valentine’s Day, as consumers went all out to celebrate the occasion. The platform recorded unprecedented sales, with chocolates and roses emerging as the top-selling items.
According to data shared by Swiggy co-founder Phani Kishan, the platform processed orders at a staggering rate during peak hours—581 chocolates and 324 roses per minute. Drawing a comparison with the stock market, Kishan described the surge as a “bull run” for love.
"Our analysts have crunched the numbers, and the Valentine’s Day rush is mad. At peak, we saw: 581 chocolate orders per minute, 324 rose orders per minute. If there was ever a stock market for love, this was the bull run," he wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Revealing further details, Kishan noted that one bulk order in Delhi alone included 174 chocolates, with the customer spending a total of Rs 29,844. He also highlighted that by 10:53 AM, Swiggy Instamart had already delivered twice as many chocolates as it did on Valentine’s Day last year.
"24 orders. 174 chocolates. Rs 29,844 spent. Someone in Delhi is taking ‘Tohfa sabke liye’ very, very seriously. Love (and chocolates) are in the air. At 10:53 AM, Swiggy Instamart had already delivered 2x more chocolates than last Valentine’s Day. Right now, we’re at 5x the orders of a regular Friday—clearly, sweet surprises are the way to go," he added.

This spike in Valentine’s Day sales mirrored a similar trend witnessed during New Year’s Eve celebrations, where Swiggy Instamart saw record-breaking orders.
According to Business World’s New Year report, cities such as Ludhiana, Rajkot, Pondicherry, and Kanpur recorded an unusually high volume of orders, while Bhubaneswar and Mangaluru emerged as the busiest cities.
One customer in Bhubaneswar made headlines by spending Rs 12,000 on protein bars.
Among the most popular items ordered during the New Year’s Eve frenzy, chips led the list with 853 orders per minute, followed closely by chocolates and soft drinks.
Grapes were in such high demand that they ran out of stock in several locations. Meanwhile, Chennai, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad recorded a significant demand for ice, as consumers stocked up for celebrations.
