Very few businessmen have the guts or conviction to handover the baton to professional manager or an outside who is more competent than the family member. For example, Ratan Tata chose Cyrus Mistry not from the Tata family to take over the mantle of the Tata Group even though he had a brother Noel Tata. Clearly, Ratan Tata who for years has been telling the media that his successor need not be from the family.
