Infosys founder Narayana Murthy’s recently stated that Indian youths must work for 70 hours a week to boost the country’s productivity and economy. His remark sparked a debate on the internet with several social media users weighing in on the issue. While some people agreed with Murthy, others didn’t find working 70 hours a week feasible.
However, it seems like and Shaadi.com founder Anupam Mittal still works 70 hours a week. His latest post on X (formerly Twitter) is proof of the same. On Friday, the Shark Tank India judge shared a selfie with boAT CEO Aman Gupta, CEO and Co-founder of CarDekho Amit Jain, Executive Director of Emcure Pharmaceuticals Limited Namita Thapar, and CEO and Co-founder of Sugar Cosmetics Vineeta Singh.
“After all these years, still working 70-hour weeks,” he wrote in the caption.

Mittal’s post went viral with close to 4 lakh views and social media users expressed their opinions in the comments section.
“I think there is a difference in working for yourself and working for peanuts,” a user wrote.
Another user commented, “Invariably every Indian does, who reaches home at 6:30 pm anyway.”
“Working 70-hour weeks consistently is so tough; remember, we only get one life and one family. Don’t lose yourself in overwork, risking burnout and sacrificing irreplaceable moments with loved ones. Your well-being matters; take care,” a third user remarked.
Meanwhile, a number of people reacted to Murthy’s 70-hour work week advice.
A Bengaluru-based cardiologist said that working for so many hours in a week will not allow young people to exercise, socialise or recreate. It can also be the reason behind the uptick in young people suffering heart attacks.
Edelweiss MF’s Radhika Gupta mentioned that Indian women have been working for more than 70 hours every week between office and homes.
