A pig named Kevin Bacon, who had been on the run in Pennsylvania, US, for over two weeks, has finally been reunited with his owner thanks to some unconventional tactics and an unexpected shout-out from his namesake and actor Kevin Bacon.

It all began on October 13 when Chelsea Rumbaugh brought her 200-pound Juliana pig back to her farm in Cumberland Township. However, the very next day, Kevin Bacon, the mischievous pig, managed to dig his way out of his pen, leaving Rumbaugh in distress.

"We were so close [to Kevin] my 16-year-old was petting him," Rumbaugh shared on her Facebook page, aptly titled "Bring Kevin Home." "He stayed close but eventually took off into the woods."

Over the course of the following two weeks, Kevin the pig became a legend in the area, roaming the woods, making occasional appearances at neighbours' homes, and evading all attempts at capture. Rumbaugh, determined to bring her pig home, turned to social media for help, launching the "Bring Kevin Home" Facebook page.

The page quickly gained a massive following, with thousands of concerned followers rallying to assist in the hunt for the elusive swine.

Then, actor Kevin Bacon, well-known for his roles in movies like "Footloose" and “Hollow Man” learned about the runaway pig, who is most likely named after the actor as a joke. He joined the cause and used Meta's Thread app to post a message: "Bring Kevin Home!"

As the drama continued, Kevin the pig kept teasing those who were trying to bring him back home.

Frustration grew, but Rumbaugh refused to give up on her porcine companion. In a last-ditch effort to coax Kevin closer, she ingeniously laced a sticky bun with Benadryl, hoping it would make him drowsy and easier to capture.

Hours later, the moment the world had been waiting for arrived: a picture posted on the Facebook page showed Kevin safely back in his pen. "He's home."

Now back where he belongs, Kevin the pig is gradually acclimating to his surroundings and rekindling his friendships with fellow pigs on the farm. Rumbaugh, inspired by this adventure, is even contemplating writing a series of children's books based on Kevin's escapades.

The Facebook page, which once served as a call to action, has now been transformed into "Kevin's Home Adventures," where the day-to-day antics of this remarkable pig are chronicled for all to enjoy.
