A viral job posting for an employee at a momo eatery has taken X by storm. The reason? The salary offered is a staggering Rs 25,000, higher than what many IT companies pay freshers at the beginning of their careers.
Amrita Singh, a user on X, recently shared her amazement upon stumbling upon a job advertisement outside a local momos shop from an undisclosed location. The poster, embellished with bold Hindi script, boldly showcases a job vacancy for a helper or worker, accompanied by the promise of a substantial salary.
"This local momo shop is offering a better package than the average college in India these days," wrote Singh with a picture.

In a landscape where job seekers often navigate through a maze of meagre paychecks and daunting financial prospects, the prospect of earning Rs 25,000 at a momos shop got X users into a frenzy. While many jokingly said they would apply, others pointed out how the task will not be an easy one at all despite the pay.
“Engineer salary will increase with time, here it won’t,” one skeptic wrote.
“Working hours 11am to 12pm + whole day on feet + no paid holiday + no insurance. Average college students can barely study for 3 hours by sitting a place they'll work for 13 hours…,” wrote another.
A third chimed in: “The skills you need for that job are also not taught in most colleges.”
“They are paying better than TCS,” wrote a fourth. “India wants to know...where is it located?” inquired a fifth.
Another said: “I’ve been seeing this trend with riders of Swiggy and Zomato also. They say they get a better pay of around 25 to 30 K whereas a nurse in a private hospital makes around 20-22K per month and she deals with human health.”
While traditional avenues of employment may falter amidst economic uncertainties, unconventional sectors such as local eateries and small businesses appear to be carving out niches of prosperity. The post soon went viral with over 70,000 views and hundreds of comments.
