A romantic evening in Thane, Maharashtra turned into a nightmare for one man when his Tinder date and a local restaurant conspired to leave him with an eye-watering bill of Rs 44,829. This incident, shared on Reddit, has sent shockwaves through social media, warning others of potential scams lurking behind the allure of online dating.

The Reddit post, accompanied by a picture of the exorbitant bill, highlighted the chilling details of the incident. The user, cautioning others, wrote, “Guys, beware. Tinder scam. Posting bill of one of the restaurants one of my friends went on a date with a girl...name of hotel: Hotel de Grandeur, Royal Plaza Building, Bhakti Park, Anand Nagar, Thane.”

The victim met the woman, who has been described as “like a model or something, very fair, very fit and beautiful” in comments by the Redditor.

“The girl didn't even sent 3 messages and directly sent her WhatsApp number to the guy. The guy talked to her on phone and she said to meet her directly without asking what he does, where is he from and all. He told her to meet her at his place as he was living alone but she denied as she was from Delhi and she knew nothing about Mumbai and places, then told him to meet her at that place,” the Redditor described the series of events that led to the meeting.

The shocking bill enumerated a lavish list of items, including 18 Jägerbombs, two Red Bulls, French fries, salted peanuts, four chocolate truffle cakes, and a special mix, collectively amounting to Rs 44,829. The date on the receipt marked the incident on June 12.

Reeling from the staggering sum, the victim contacted the police. Despite the intervention, the final bill was reduced by only Rs 4,000, leaving him to pay a hefty Rs 40,000. This episode has ignited widespread discussions online, with many expressing their disbelief and outrage in the comments.

The Reddit user’s post quickly went viral, capturing the attention of many who sympathised with the victim.

“18 Jager bombs and just 2 Redbulls. Sus right there,” one user wrote.

“I am not going to any place where the French Fries cost 500 rupees,” a second wrote.

A third was skeptical of the incident. “Were the 18 Jager bombs actually ordered? Or just shows up on the bill as 18? CCTV maybe to prove? It’s a tough situation. How do you prove you've been scammed? Unless you're sure you didn't order that many shots, you still need a witness/evidence,” they wrote.
