The results for the Civil Services Exam 2023 were declared by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Tuesday. Aditya Srivastava from Lucknow secured the coveted All India Rank 1 and scripted his names in the pages of history. Amid that, a video of the moment when Srivastava got to know about his stupendous achievement has spread on the internet like wildfire.

The now-viral clip was shared by a page called UPSC Notes on Instagram and X. In the video, Srivastava was seen standing in disbelief as his friends informed him about the result. His friends were seen celebrating with gusto around him and they also posed for a picture. Later, a group of people was seen carrying him on their shoulders and chanting his name.

Since being shared online, the video has clocked in over five million views. Social media users also congratulated Srivastava in the comments section.

Meanwhile, Srivastava left behind the comforts of a high-paying job at Goldman Sachs, Bengaluru in 2020. He appeared in 2021 and 2022 and secured AIR 236 on his second attempt. He didn’t make the cut for IAS back then and decided to appear for the third time. An IIT Kanpur graduate, Srivastava had failed his first prelims.

Born and raised in Lucknow, Srivastava studied at CMS Lucknow and then pursued engineering at IIT Kanpur. He graduated with a degree in electrical engineering in 2019.

"I would say that there is a lot to be learned in this journey," Srivastava said in an interview with Indian Masterminds after his second successful attempt. "Some mistakes also happened, like when I failed in my first prelims, life taught a lesson. Leaving job for preparation was really a tough decision for me."
