Christopher Nolan won the award for Best Director-Motion Picture for "Oppenheimer" at the 81st Golden Globe Awards held in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles on Sunday.
Nolan beat competition from the likes of Greta Gerwig for "Barbie" and Bradley Cooper for "Maestro" to win the award. This was Nolan's first Golden Globe award in his eighth nomination in the category of Best Director.

"Oppenheimer" released in India, along side "Barbie" on July 21 and earned widespread praise for its story and the performances of the lead and supporting actors.
There was more recognition for the movie at the awards as Cillian Murphy bagged the Golden Globe in the "Best Male Actor – Motion Picture – Drama" category while Ludwig Göransson won in the category of "Best Score - Motion Picture."
