Kanav further shared a screenshot of his analytics dashboard, which displayed 882 verified followers and 28.4 million impressions.

A 21-year-old engineering student said he had earned more than Rs 32,000 in a single month from X, the social media site owned by Elon Musk, by posting content consistently.

The student, identified as Kanav on the platform, uploaded a screenshot of his payout history and remarked that his earnings already exceeded what many of his peers were receiving from campus placements.

According to the screenshot, Kanav received Rs 67,419 from X between July 5 and August 30. The amount was disbursed in five separate payments, with the largest single transfer totalling Rs 21,097. He noted that his August income alone crossed Rs 32,000.

“Posting on X is already paying me more than average tier 3 campus placement and I literally only started 2 months ago,” Kanav wrote when he shared the payment records.

Meanwhile, Moneycontrol.com couldn't independently verify the authenticity of the earnings.

To illustrate his point, Kanav also shared information about salary packages offered during placements at his college. The data, presented in another screenshot without an identified source, suggested that the lowest package available was Rs 1 lakh per year. The highest, he said, was Rs 5 lakh annually, amounting to roughly Rs 41,000 per month before deductions. He emphasised that the net pay for such offers would be lower.

X’s Creator Revenue Sharing programme allows eligible users to receive a share of advertising income generated through replies to their posts. To qualify, an account holder must subscribe to X Premium, accumulate at least five million organic impressions over three months, and have no fewer than 500 verified followers. Payments are issued every two weeks, with a minimum threshold of $10.

Speaking to HT.com, Kanav explained how he began: “In my day to day life, I often found things related to technology which many people would find interesting. But I did not have any platform to share my findings. So, I researched about which social media has the largest ‘engineer’ user base. X stood out immediately, and that’s when I made an account and started posting.”

When asked how long it took to build an audience sufficient for monetisation, he said: “Within my first week of posting, I got a bit lucky and a random image I posted went viral and that single post enabled monetisation on my account. Apart from that, the following came gradually over 2-3 months as I kept posting consistently.”

Kanav further shared a screenshot of his analytics dashboard, which displayed 882 verified followers and 28.4 million impressions.
