A company’s wellness programme took an unexpectedly wholesome turn when an employee chose to spend her monthly allowance on feeding animals at a zoo instead of the usual health and fitness options.

In a post that quickly gained traction on X, a manager revealed that one of their team members had used her $120 (over Rs 10,000) wellness budget to buy goat pellets.

“I just got receipts from one girl, and she’s used part of her budget to go to the zoo and feed the animals. $120 on goat pellets. I love her,” the manager wrote in the viral post.

The story drew widespread appreciation online for its unconventional take on workplace well-being. Users praised both the employee’s choice and the company’s flexible approach to how staff could use their wellness funds.

“That’s actually really cool. Also, cool on you for giving her that opportunity. Well done!” one user commented.

Another added, “Double her allowance.”

A third remarked, “You’ve got to support those unique ways people find peace and de-stress. For some folks, staring at goats is way more effective than another guided meditation app. It shows you trust your team to know what truly benefits them outside the typical stuff.”

The manager later shared additional examples of how other employees had used their wellness budgets in creative ways. One team member purchased a $100 teacup, explaining that “drinking out of a nice cup makes her happy.” Another used the funds to adopt a cat.

Others opted for experiences — one spent her allowance on movie tickets for a girls’ night, while another bought a quarter of a cow.
