'Knocking' sounds from ill-fated Titan submersible surfaces in chilling audio clip

All five people who attempted the 2023 Titanic expedition died in the implosion.

From the depths of the Atlantic, a chilling audio clip has surfaced, casting a haunting shadow over the tragic fate of the Titan submersible and its ill-fated voyage to the Titanic wreck last year.

The mysterious knocking sounds, once a beacon of false hope in a frantic search for survivors, have now been unveiled to the public in a gripping British documentary, “The Titan Sub Disaster: Minute by Minute.” This eerie revelation has reignited the sorrow surrounding the catastrophe that claimed five lives last summer.

The Titan sub, an ambitious endeavor led by OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush, embarked on a journey to explore the Titanic wreck but met with a catastrophic end within two hours into its dive, at a depth of 12,000 feet.

The submersible and its occupants—a crew comprising Rush, French Titanic expert Paul-Henri Nargeolet, British billionaire Hamish Harding, and Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood along with his young son, Sulaiman—succumbed to the immense pressures of the deep, perishing instantly in a catastrophic implosion near the ocean floor.

The initial detection of the knocking sounds, recorded at intervals of 30 minutes, sparked a glimmer of hope among the search teams and the anxious families waiting for any sign of life. The US Navy's confirmation of these sounds further fuelled the speculation that survivors might be signalling for rescue.

However, this hope was cruelly dashed when the true nature of their demise was revealed, and the search team's lead submersible, Odysseus 6K, discovered the Titan's wreckage scattered near the Titanic.

Former Navy submarine Capt. Ryan Ramsey, featured in the documentary, described the knocking as “rhythmic” and “unusual,” a sentiment that encapsulated the desperate optimism of the moment.

Many speculated that a passenger was banging against the submersible’s walls to try to signal their location to the search party. Yet, the source of the sounds remains a mystery, with some dismissing speculations asserting it could have been the ocean itself or other ships in the vicinity.
