Several users who believed they had won fintech company CRED's coveted Friday Jackpot were left frustrated and disillusioned after the platform abruptly cancelled their winnings, citing a technical "bug" as the reason. The issue came to light when users took to X to voice their concerns and displeasure, detailing how they were informed of their wins, only to have them retracted hours later.

Aviral Sangal, one of the affected users, shared his experience on X, saying, "Even though I usually do not fall for the CRED jackpots, yesterday I just played the Friday jackpot without having any hope of getting anything meaningful. But I scored the JACKPOT, and it wasn't a small one. It included a MacBook, iPad, AirPods Max, and a TUMI bag worth INR 3.25L."

Sangal explained that after receiving a form to claim his prizes, he was asked to provide his PAN details for tax purposes. However, shortly after, he received a call from CRED, informing him that the jackpot had been cancelled due to a “technical issue”.

As compensation, the company offered to refund the points used for the jackpot entry and provided a goodwill gesture of Rs 1,000 cashback—a gesture that Sangal declined.

Saurabh Sharma, another user who reportedly won a similar tech bundle, shared a similar story on Twitter. "Yesterday, I won the CRED Friday. It was a Tech bundle of a MacBook, iPad, and AirPods Max. They asked me to fill out a form for rewards to be sent to me. Today I got a call from CRED support saying this was because of a bug and now the jackpot is cancelled," he wrote.

Jai Kathuria echoed these sentiments, describing the situation as "stupid and bad." Like Sangal and Sharma, Kathuria was told his winnings were cancelled due to the same bug.

Sangal, in a follow-up tweet, expressed his frustration, stating that CRED informed him 200 users had won the jackpot due to the bug. Instead of pausing the jackpot to fix the issue and honouring the winners, the company decided to cancel the entire event.
Sangal urged CRED to publicly acknowledge the incident and honour the rewards for all 200 users, warning that he might pursue legal action if the situation is not rectified.

CRED has not responded to the matter yet.
