The winner of a Xiangqi, or Chinese chess, tournament has been stripped of his title over bad behaviour. Yan Chenglong has been accused of defecating in the bathtub of his hotel room after a night of excessive drinking.
According to BBC, Chenglong won the title of "Xiangqi King" at a national tournament held last week. The 48-year-old beat dozens of other contestants to take home an impressive cash prize – which he has now been forced to forfeit.
Chenglong apparently started drinking with his friends shortly after winning the title. His night of revelry ended with him defecating in the hotel bathtub.
The Chinese Xiangqi Association (CXA) said Chenglong displayed 'extremely bad character' and 'violated good morals' as it stripped the chess player of his title and prize money. He has also been banned from playing for a year.
"Yan consumed alcohol with others in his room on the night of the 17th, and then he defecated in the bathtub of the room he was staying in on the 18th, in an act that damaged hotel property, violated public order and good morals, had a negative impact on the competition and the event of Xiangqi, and was of extremely bad character," the CXA said.
The association also addressed allegations that Chenglong cheated with the help of anal beads, saying these allegations are impossible to prove.
"Based on our understanding of the situation, it is currently impossible to prove that Yan engaged in cheating via 'anal beads' as speculated on social media," the CXA said.
