Advertisements are very important for brands as they place a product in the heart and mind of a customer. And, the advertisement should not just be a couple of ideas put together. It should reflect a brand thoroughly and should be interesting enough to remember. For example, an ad for Samsung smartphones that mocked every model of an Apple iPhone was a hit among audiences.
However, an advert mocking the giant US-based brand has not gone down well with netizens and has caused quite a stir on the internet. Electronics brand boat recently took a dig at Apple in a string of adverts. “Don’t be a fanboy, be a boAthead,” was the tagline of one of the videos shared by boat on X.
“No fruits were harmed in the making of this film. It's time to give an Indian brand a chance to compete on the global level. Don't be a fanboy, be a boAthead,” read the caption of the post.

In a newspaper ad posted on Times of India, boAt urged customers to “Think Better” with an image of an apple and a picture of their brand new Airdopes.
Fanboys will find this ad a little bitter. Well, it's time to switch to an Indian brand with better offerings

Well, the advertisements did go viral in no time and grabbed a lot of eyeballs obviously. However, they were not hailed by social media users on X.
“Bro is competing in the wrong league,” a user wrote. Another user commented, “Brother eww, what's that brother.”
“With all due respect. People only buy boat cause it’s cheaper and offers great quality for the price. No one is going gaga over the tech on its own. Still, good work team!” a third user remarked.
"Boat asking people to ditch Apple and go for Boat earphones. It's like Oyo mocking Taj hotels. People aren't booking Taj properties just for comfortable bed & pillows. Similarly, people aren't paying 23000/- just for the sound quality," a fourth user added.
Another user chimed in, "Somewhere a copy writer for boAt has gone home thinking he has 'socked it to Apple' by writing 'no fruits were harmed in making this ad'. And trade portals are reporting it as 'shots fired!'. Again, I am happy for boAt's popularity and wish them more success. Such initiatives will make the brand's current and prospective customers (unlikely to be those who can afford and seek Apple products) happy with their choice. Also mock all you will of the 'Apple ecosystem' but if you've experienced it - the network across iPhone, Mac, iPad, Apple TV and AirPods is desired. Competition cannot simply wish it away. Irony is the creative industry is full of Apple fanboys."
