A 77-year-old Mitsubishi executive won hearts at Pondicherry University after singing a Tamil song from the actor Rajnikanth's iconic movie Muthu. A video doing rounds on social media shows the elderly executive moving to the beats and singing as the staff and the students cheered on.

The animated performance of the man identified only as Kuboki won the hearts not only of the students of Pondicherry University but also of social media users who found it "wholesome".

The video was recorded at an event organised by the university for its MBA students.

The film Muthu holds special significance for the people of Tamil Nadu and Japan because, after its release in India in 1995, it was dubbed for a release in Japan in 1998 where it helped gather immense popularity for actor Rajinikanth.

It was apparently the highest-grossing Indian film in Japan until it was surpassed by RRR in 2022.

Meanwhile, Japan's Mitsubishi also has a strong connection with Tamil Nadu and in May last year, Chief Minister MK Stalin unveiled the foundation stone for Mitsubishi Electric India’s factory in Tiruvallur district which would manufacture air-conditioners and compressors. The company would invest Rs 1,891 crore into this project and employ more than 2,000 people, The Hindu reported.
