After months of teasers and speculation, Mahindra Group has finally resurrected the iconic motorcycle brand Jawa in India. The Czech motorcycle brand has launched three new models -- Jawa , Jawa 42, which is the classic variant, and a custom bobber model named Jawa Perak.
The motorcycles have been developed from the ground-up and don a retro look reminiscent of the golden era of the past. While bookings for Jawa and Jawa Forty Two will begin today, the Jawa Perak will take a while to arrive.
Pricing has been announced at Rs 1.64 lakh, Rs 1.55 lakh for the Jawa Forty Two and Jawa, while the Perak is expected to cost Rs 1.89 lakh -- all prices ex-showroom, Delhi.

"The Jawa and Jawa forty two break cover as the brand's new torchbearers, bringing back the classic appeal of Jawa with a retro - cool twist. These modern machines have the authentic Jawa character that balances performance, capability and quality," the company stated.
Mechanically, the Jawa and Jawa 42 are powered by a 293cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that churns out 27 PS and 28 Nm of peak torque. The motor comes with modern fuel-injection technology but resembles the 2-stroke engines and twin-exhaust layout of the Jawas of old.
Interestingly, the motor is BS-VI ready, making it the first made-in-India engine of its kind. The bikes sport a 6-speed constant mesh gearbox.
All the models are built around a double-cradle frame suspended by telescopic front fork and gas-charged dual rear shock absorbers. Braking duties are handled by a 280 mm disc up front and a rear drum, with single channel ABS.
The Jawa will be available in three colour options while the Jawa 42 gets six.
"It's rare to get an opportunity to resurrect a legend. Jawa is an authentic and iconic brand that represents the desire and yearning in all of us for freedom and adventure," said Anand Mahindra, Chairman, Mahindra Group, during the launch.
