In a creative effort to inform others about today’s total solar eclipse, a die-hard fan of Pokémon on Nintendo 3DS has used his passion for the gaming console to develop an accessible simulation. By using the sun and moon cartridges from Pokémon on Nintendo 3DS, this gaming fan has cleverly designed a virtual depiction of the celestial phenomenon.
During the total solar eclipse, the moon completely obscures the sun's light for several minutes along a specified "path of totality.""For those that are going to miss the eclipse on Monday, I have created a simulation of what the eclipse will look like along the path of totality," the user on platform X (formerly Twitter) with account @FTW_Arts posted a 14-second video of the Pokémon-themed explanation of the total solar eclipse.
The Pokémon enthusiast used the moon cartridge to eclipse the eclipse of the sun cartridge, vividly illustrating the rare event of a total solar eclipse.
Total Solar Eclipse
Set to occur at 2:07 p.m. ET (1807 GMT) on April 8, the solar eclipse will begin its path of shadow on Mexico's Pacific coast. This year's totality will span 185 kilometres wide and reach nearly 32 million Americans directly, with an additional 150 million individuals residing within 200 miles of the eclipse path. While those further from the path will only see a partial eclipse, they can still participate in the event through a NASA webcast.
