AWS India launches ‘AI Ready’ initiative to train 2 million people by 2025

The cloud service provider also earmarked $12 million for AWS Generative AI Scholarship, wherein it will provide Udacity scholarships to more than 50,000 high school and university students from underserved and underrepresented communities globally.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) India on November 23 launched ‘AI Ready’ initiative to offer eight new, free AI and generative AI courses aimed at up skilling 2 million people by 2025.

These courses range from foundational to advanced and for business leaders and technologists, aligned to their in-demand jobs as tech and IT companies are increasing focus on AI skills-based hiring.

Moreover, AWS announced a $12-million AWS Generative AI Scholarship, partnering with Udacity to train more than 50,000 high school and university students from underserved and underrepresented communities globally.

Some of these courses are Introduction to Amazon CodeWhisperer, Foundations of Prompt Engineering, Low-Code Machine Learning on AWS, Building Language Models on AWS, Amazon Transcribe—Getting Started and Building Generative AI Applications Using Amazon Bedrock, to name a few.

According to a recent study by AWS, around 93 percent of businesses are expected to use AI solutions across their organization in the next five years. Consequently, employers expect their workers to earn up to 47% more in salaries if they upskill in AI.

Swami Sivasubramanian, vice president of Data and AI at AWS said, “The goal of AI Ready is to help level the playing field of AI education, supported by the new initiatives we’re launching today. We will also scale our existing free AI training programs and courses as we continue to remove cost as a barrier to accessing these critical skills.”

Previously, AWS had committed to invest hundreds of millions of dollars to provide free cloud computing skills training to 29 million people by 2025, which has already trained more than 21 million people, the company said.
