Indian consumers bought 2.7 million units of wearables in 2017. While the demand for fitness trackers may have been subdued in 2018, enthusiasts swear by these gadgets. We take a look at the top five smart bands and watches that will make your workouts smarter.

1) Xiaomi Mi Band 3
The Xiaomi Mi Band 3 is the latest in a series that has already made a name for itself in the fitness tracker space in India. It is accurate for step tracking, and the touchscreen helps navigate through the options on the device. The battery life is lower than its predecessor, but is still better than other fitness bands. Xiaomi's aggressive pricing of Rs 1,999 makes it a great value-for-money.

2) Huawei Band 2 Pro
The Band 2 Pro has heart rate monitoring, GPS, step and sleep tracking and a seriously impressive battery life. The slim screen means this tracker will work just as well with running gear. If you want a fitness device that promises accurate and precise metrics, the Huawei Band 2 Pro is a great option. But its slim and thin screen makes it hard to read metrics on the go. Priced at Rs 2,000, it is an alternative to the Mi Band 3.

3) Fitbit Charge 2
The Fitbit Charge 2 is the best Fitbit tracker you can buy right now. It's more expensive than some of the other options from Fitbit, but if you are looking to go jogging this is a great choice that won't cost you as much as a traditional running watch. It connects to your phone for GPS and has a heart rate sensor. It can be bought online for Rs 9,200.

4) Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro
The Gear Fit 2 Pro has a gorgeous design that looks fantastic on your wrist and it sports a big, beautiful AMOLED display which lets you view all your stats clearly. It has GPS built-in as well as a top-notch heart rate sensor that should give you one of the most accurate readings possible from a wrist-based tracker. It will also track your swim speed and time.

5) Apple Watch Series 4
The most expensive smartwatch available in India, Apple Watch 4 comes in two sizes, with each having two variants. Both variants have a screen size of 40mm and 44mm, which lets you read notifications that you receive on your phone and even reply. It has activity tracking sensors, GPS and a cellular version which lets you stay connected even when your phone is away. The downside here, apart from the price, is that it can only be used with an iPhone.
