With all the big shots of the mobile and tablet world lining up for announcing big things this month, Amazon doesn’t seem to want to be left behind. According to Mobile Boom, the company has sent out invites to some event on the 6th of September. Rumours point to this being the launch event for the next version of Amazon’s wildly popular 7-inch tablet, the Kindle Fire.Amazon is going to see tough competition from the likes of Google and its Nexus 7 tablet, developed by Asus. While the prices of both the Nexus 7 and the Kindle Fire are similar, the Nexus 7 seems to be the way to go as it comes with much beefier hardware along with access to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean as well as future Android releases, as opposed to the Kindle Fire’s Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Another big player slated to enter the market soon is Apple, with its rumoured 7-inch iPad.
