Android and iOS have managed to grasp the biggest chunk of the smartphone OS war because of a number of reason, the biggest being the availability of apps for them. The developer community has been at work for a long time churning out a whole bunch of apps for them - both free and paid. Windows Phone 7, although a promising operating system has been plagued by lack of apps, in comparison at least. The scene has changed of late but an analysis done by Winsource states that some 76 percent of all apps found on Microsoft’s Windows Phone Marketplace are available for Android and iOS devices already. In short, only 24 percent of all those apps are exclusive to Microsoft’s platform.
