Windows 8 apps officially named Windows Store Apps

The Microsoft executive was not informed of the exact terminology, and the official name of these applications is Windows Store Apps.

Yesterday it was reported that the official name of applications purchased from the Windows 8 Store was Windows 8 Store Applications. However, this name is rather long and not the brightest of names. A report by Engadget now states that the Microsoft executive was not informed of the exact terminology, and the official name of these applications is ‘Windows Store Apps’.As per a report by Engadget, the author Brian Heater states, “It happens all the time -- someone misspoke. During an address at Build yesterday, a Microsoft employee told a crowd that the company has taken to calling its apps "Windows 8 Store Applications." Turns out that's not quite right -- the proper terminology is the slightly more elegant "Windows Store apps," as per a note from a Redmond spokesperson. So there you go. No more Metro, no more "Windows 8 Store applications" -- just plain, old "Windows Store apps."
