Capcom, the creator of the popular survival horror game franchise Resident Evil, recently announced on its blog that the latest iteration of the franchise will be getting a free online service called Resident Evil.net (RE.net). The website will be tracking gameplay stats of anyone who registers and allows users to compare their stats with their friends.According to the blog post, another cool feature of RE.net will be that it will allow Capcom to hold events and stuff which will reward gamers with in-game items such as skins. Here’s an example of one such event according to the blog: “let's say one weekend the goal is to kill 10,000 zombies. Everyone who has an RE.net account and plays during that time period will receive RE.net points that can be redeemed on the site for a variety of goodies - chief among them new costumes that appear in the actual game.”
