Culling Twitter bots was one of Elon Musk's priorities when he took over Twitter. In fact, in his attempts to remove them, Twitter had recently blocked thousands of real users from accessing their accounts.
Almost immediately, as legitimate users found they were unable to access the platform, complaints began to flow in.
Disney was contemplating buying Twitter in 2016 because as former CEO Bob Iger said, "It would be an excellent way to distribute Disney’s content around the world."
Minister of State in Electronics and Information Technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar said this while responding to reports that Disney had found fake users on Twitter in 2016
The poll was taken by over 8.22 lakh people – barely a fraction of Elon Musk's 102.9 million Twitter followers.
According to Twitter, the bots are about 5 per cent of the active users. But, Elon Musk disagrees.
Elon Musk said: “Currently I am being told that there is no way to know the number of bots on Twitter, its unknowable, it’s like the human soul basically.”
While Elon Musk has not responded to the tweet yet, Ranvir Shorey appears to be pointing out that the tech billionaire's "free speech" policy on the social media platform to be a bigger problem than bots.
