An ambulance with the first of the 41 workers left the mouth of the tunnel around 8 pm, about an hour after a group of rat-hole mining experts dug through the last stretch of rubble.
Around 8 pm, an ambulance with the worker sitting in the vehicle left the mouth of the tunnel and was headed to a community health centre.
"I am completely relieved and happy as 41 trapped laborers in the Silkyara Tunnel Collapse have been successfully rescued," Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said on November 28 after all the trapped workers were brought safely out of the collapsed tunnel.
'I just feel good. The drilling on top of the mountain is coming along perfectly, in the tunnel, it's coming along very well,' tunnelling expert Arnold Dix said.
