On May 21, a trial court of Mapusa town of Goa acquitted Tarun Tejpal, the former editor-in-chief of the Tehelka magazine, in the case where he was accused of sexually assaulting his then woman colleague in a lift of a five-star hotel in Goa in November 2013 when they were attending an event.
Tejpal, former editor-in-chief of Tehelka magazine, is facing charges under IPC sections 341 (wrongful restraint), 342 (wrongful confinement), 376 (rape) and 354-B (criminal assault with intent to disrobe a woman).
In a letter to Managing Editor of Tehelka Shoma Chaudhary, Mr. Tejpal said, “The last few days have been most testing, and I squarely take the blame for this... A bad lapse of judgment, an awful misreading of the situation, have led to an unfortunate incident that rails against all we believe in and fight for.â€
A Tehelka report alleges Maran favoured promoters of Aircel during his tenure as the telecom minister. The news report alleges his involvement in a Rs 600 crore scam. While the opposition is seeking answers, the congress seems to have washed its hand of the DMK minister, CNBC-TV18’s Ashok Bagariya reports.
