Shares of Pipavav Defence and Offshore Engineering Company (formerly Pipavav Shipyard) surged by over 2% in morning trade on the bourses today after the company announced a foray into the aviation sector.
CNBC-TV18 reports that while the company is confident that the deal will be cleared, Pipavav is already getting into yet another deal. The shipyard has signed a pact with SKIL Infra and Airbus to facilitate aircraft repair operations.
Nikhil Gandhi, group chairman of SKIL Infra, in an interview with CNBC-TV18's Udayan Mukherjee and Mitali Mukherjee, said that the company is planning to raise funds through long-term debt to meet requirements.
