"Empathy has become a buzzword today but it has always been there and has been defined differently. My parents would say treat others like you want to be treated."
IHCL Chairman N Chandrasekaran said Sarna has chosen to resign upon completion of his 3-year tenure as MD and CEO of the company, expected to continue till September.
A woman executive working with IHCL had first reported alleged harassment by Sarna in early 2015. Before she started working with Indian Hotels, she was part of Mistry's Group Executive Council from where Sarna requested she be transferred to Taj.
The board is also going to discuss the acquisitions that the management has made overseas after Mistry alleges in his scathing letter to the board that these acquisitions could face part write downs of upto USD 18 billion.
Indian Hotels Company Ltd (IHCL) and Tata Sons today termed as 'completely baseless and unfounded' speculations that Rakesh Sarna, the Managing Director and CEO of Taj Hotels, is leaving the company.
Talking about the expansion in the overseas market, Sarna said, IHCL's focus will be the GCC and the South East Asian countries, including Thailand, Singapore Vietnam and Cambodia.
