Kolhe (54) was stabbed to death in Amravati city of eastern Maharashtra on the night of June 21 when he was returning home after closing his shop, apparently over his posts backing Nupur Sharma.

The top court also issued notice on Sharma's plea seeking clubbing of all nine FIRs registered against her across various cities and sought responses from Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and West Bengal.
This is the second time when Nupur Sharma has requested the top court to club all the complaints against her. While rejecting her plea the last time, a SC bench had said that her "loose tongue" was responsible for setting the "entire country on fire".

There were similarities between the murders of Amravati-based chemist Umesh Kolhe (54) and of tailor Kanhaiya Lal in Rajasthan’s Udaipur city, as both the victims had posted messages on social media supporting Nupur Sharma, who has been suspended by the BJP for making controversial comments about Prophet Mohammad, he said.
The crime branch of Amravati city police arrested Irfan Khan (32), a local resident, from Nagpur in the evening. He had allegedly hatched the conspiracy to murder Umesh Prahladrao Kolhe (54), who ran a medical shop in Amravati, and roped in others, said city police commissioner Dr Aarti Singh.
The chemist, Umesh Prahladrao Kolhe, was killed on June 21, and five persons have been arrested so far in this connection, an official said.
