Talking to reporters, Nitin Raut said there was no load-shedding in Maharashtra for the past five to six days due to this micro-level planning and the power deficit stood at 15 per cent.
Speaking to reporters, Nitin Raut blamed the Centre for poor management of coal supply and railway racks, and claimed that the state only has six days of coal stock left.
Electricity consumers in the state will have to pay the full amount as per readings in the bill, Nitin Raut said. The announcement comes as a shock to thousands of power consumers in the state who have reported inflated bills in the COVID-19 lockdown.
The Congress leader also said that the Centre should focus on decentralisation of power for transparency and efficiency.
"While industrial consumers will enjoy a tariff cut of 10-15 percent, residential consumers will see a reduction by 5 percent in their electricity bills," Raut told reporters.
Raut's statement came on the day Modi urged the people to switch off the lights at their homes and light up lamps, candles or mobile phone torches for nine minutes at 9 pm on April 5 to display the country's "collective resolve" to defeat coronavirus.
