The seven HSR corridors undertaken for survey are: Delhi - Varanasi, Delhi -Ahmedabad, Mumbai-Nagpur, Mumbai -Hyderabad, Chennai - Bangalore - Mysore, Delhi - Chandigarh - Amritsar, and Varanasi – Howrah.
The first phase of the project is expected to be launched in 2026. The high-speed rail project is being constructed with 80 percent loan from Japan at 0.1 percent interest and a 15-year moratorium.
The railway minister said 90 percent of land acquisition has been completed for MAHSR.
The approximately 508 km Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail project will cover Maharashtra, Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Gujarat, with 12 stations along the route.
The Niti Aayog has reviewed progress of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail project for which the ground breaking ceremony will take place during the visit of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe later this year.
