    Armed with a report prepared by the former Karnataka Lokayukta on illegal mining, the Ministry of Mines has asked the Goa government to furnish data on the allegations that the Mormugao Port Trust was exporting iron ore even after the state banned the activity.

    Following Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat's allegations that the Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) was not doing enough to stop iron ore being exported illegally, the port has said that government agencies can monitor ore consignments before they arrive for shipment.
