Nifty, Bank Nifty and Sensex close flat
What began as a sell-off in a couple of midcap shares late last week rapidly spread to many other stocks, taking the market by surprise. Some of these stocks have fallen 50-80 percent in less than two weeks.
It has been a scary start to the week. The market looked weak in the morning, but it is quite disturbing with the way largecaps and midcaps have started falling, said CNBC-TV18’s managing editor Udayan Mukherjee.
The market ended on a negative note with Nifty at 5,068 levels, down 79 points and Sensex shut shop 236 points lower at 16,882 levels. The Nifty is well below 5,100 levels, which is very disappointing after yesterday’s fall, said CNBC-TV18's managing editor Udayan Mukherjee.
Today's market session was a disappointing one, it was not because the Nifty is down 5-7 points, it is the broader market which has been sulking since day before, reads Udayan Mukherjee, managing editor of CNBC-TV18.
