Apurva Chandra, Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB), said the media and entertainment industry in India is currently valued at $28 billion and highlighted that the country has the talent and creative skill required in the industry.
The industry reached Rs 1.5 trillion in 2017, registering a growth of almost 13 per cent, according to the Ficci-EY report released today at the annual industry jamboree Ficci Frames here this evening. The report pegs the industry to touch Rs 1.66 trillion this year.
Digital format would have the highest growth of 33.5 percent in the advertising segment between 2015-20, followed by Radio with 16.9 percent.
Of the 17 deals in 2010, 14 were together valued at USD 170 million. The sector cracked 23 deals in 2011, valued at USD 170 million. The sector saw 51 deals being struck in 2012, and 28 of these make up for over USD 1.25 billion.
Expect encouragement to media and entertainment industry for digitizing their content. Budgeting for internet connectivity would make IT, entertainment and education sector reach out to everybody.
