An independent third party procured coal sample tested by the Central Institute of Mining and Fuel Research (CIMFR) has clearly indicted that WCL supplied sub-standard coal with ash content ranging between 47 percent to 52 percent, as against the prescribed norms of 34 percent.
Speaking to CNBC-TV18 about its differences with Coal India, NTPC CMD Arup Roy Choudhury said the company is not sure if the coal giant has the ability to meet the power sector's growing demand.
The Power Minister was quoted as saying that Coal India Ltd (CIL) may reduce e-auction supply. There are also problems in the fuel supply agreement (FSA) between National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) and CIL.CNBC-TV18‘s Siddharth Zarabi reports.
