The SIT, established on February 17, was tasked with investigating “the anti-India activities of one Pakistani national, Ali Tauqeer Sheikh, and his associates,” following approval from the state Cabinet.

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday alleged that Gogoi visited Pakistan at the invitation of the ISI and also received training there.
Sarma asserted that the government has documentary evidence to support this claim, which he will present by September 10
The BJP has accused Gogoi’s wife of having ties with Pakistan and the ISI, which Gogoi has described as “laughable and entertaining.”
The Jorhat MP also questioned the government over a contentious provision - that donations can only be made by a Muslim who has been practicing his/her faith for at least five years. It is a sad situation, the Congress leader said, when the government takes it on itself to issue 'religious certificates'.

Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the Assam cabinet has directed the DGP to file a case against Ali Seikh who has served the Pakistan government has been in contact with Elizabeth Gogoi.
Senior advocate Devajit Saikia, her counsel, told PTI that the case has been filed at the Court of Civil Judge (Senior Division) of Kamrup Metropolitan on Friday and it will be moved on September 26.
