Expressing anguish over continuous cover-up by authorities over the role of L-G V K Saxena in tree felling in the Ridge area, the top court has directed the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to inform it whether the order to cut trees was passed based on the L-G's oral permission or the agency independently took the decision.
In the notice, the DDA authorities have sought the hiring of a firm having a minimum 20 years’ experience in the demolition of structures using methods like high-reach demolition excavators, implosion, diamond-cutting, etc.
The Authority plans to complete the demolition of the 12-storey structures by June-July 2024.
Ahead of the G20 Summit here next month, the Public Works Department and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi have been directed to frame a contingency plan to deal with possible waterlogging in case of heavy rain in the city, according to an L-G office statement on August 5.

The Lt Governor, who is also the chairperson of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), flagged this in a post on his official Twitter handle.
The scheme was for sale of nearly 18,000 newly built flats in Delhi’s Vasant Kunj and Narela residential areas, for which the DDA had received about 50,000 applications, DDA officials had earlier said.
The panel would be headed by the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi with members, including the chief secretary of Delhi, Vice Chairman of the DDA, a representative of the Ministry of Jal Shakti, various stakeholder departments from Delhi government, representative of governments of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, Delhi Jal Board, municipal corporations of Delhi, and city police, officals said.
This effectively means the transfer of pooled land to the DDA will not be required.
The Green Panel also questioned the building up of pontoon bridge by the Army on river Yamuna for the festival, and asked the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) counsel as who gave the permission for setting it up.
