At the time of approaching the commission for advice in respect to any prosecution sanction case, the chief vigilance officer (CVO) should mention whether the case is eligible to be referred to the advisory board along with the date of reference besides details of the recommendations given by it, the CVC said.
"At the end of the year 2020, in respect of such complaints that were referred by the commission to the CVOs for investigation, reports were awaited in 219 complaints out of which 58 were pending for up to one year, 56 were pending for a period between one to three years and 105 were pending for a period of over three years,” said the CVC’s annual report 2020.
Citing its earlier guidelines, the commission said government departments are required to approach the CVC for advice wherein a lenient or stricter view than that advised by it is proposed to be taken in the vigilance cases.
The probity watchdog said the sanction to prosecute a few bureaucrats is also pending with the Personnel Ministry, that acts as the nodal department for anti-corruption matters, for over four months.
