HBO Max has removed most classic Cartoon Network shows, following the shutdown of its website. Fans are disheartened as even the remaining titles are expected to disappear soon.
A Cartoon Network spokesperson said: 'We are focusing on the Cartoon Network shows and social media where we find consumers are the most engaged.'
Cartoon Network, which launched as the first 24-hour animation-focused cable channel in 1992, now faces speculation of closure under the hashtag #RIPCartoonNetwork. This prompted fans to share beloved memories and advocate for the channel's continuation.
A viral post highlighted that while the animation industry thrived during the pandemic, studios have since cut cost by cancelling projects, outsourcing jobs, and laying off artists in large numbers.
