This is the OnePlus Nord - the company's latest offering for the Indian market. Nord means North, which has been the case when it comes to the pricing of OnePlus' premium flagship smartphones over the years. But with the Nord, things are different. The OnePlus Nord is a mid-range smartphone and starts at Rs 24,999. It does offer promising specs and features. We have been using the OnePlus Nord for a brief amount of time, and before we publish our OnePlus Nord review, here are our first impressions.

First things first -- Let's appreciate this gorgeous Blue Marble colour of the OnePlus Nord. The back does have a shiny finish but it does not show many fingerprints due to that bright blue colour. Despite weighing 184 grams, the Nord feels pretty lightweight in hand. In case this one's too flashy for you, you can opt for the Gray Onyx colour option.

Or maybe you can slap a transparent case so that while you can show off the relatively-different colour scheme on a smartphone, you get some additional grip while holding the plastic frame.

At the front, the Nord has a 6.44-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate. The display does get bright and offers vibrant colours. It also supports HDR10+, which means the colour and contrast levels are enhanced to offer a better viewing experience.

The use of an AMOLED panel also makes way for an in-display fingerprint scanner, which is pretty accurate and quick to unlock. You also get the face unlock biometric as an alternative.

For selfies, OnePlus Nord houses a 32MP + 8MP ultrawide sensor setup inside the punch-hole cutout on the upper left corner of the display. The primary lens does manage to click good selfies. We will test both the primary and ultrawide camera and upload some sample shots in our full OnePlus Nord review.

On the back, the OnePlus Nord sports a quad-camera array with a 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor borrowed from the OnePlus 8. The other three camera sensors include an 8MP ultra-wide, a 2MP macro lens, and a 5MP depth sensor.

OnePlus is making tall claims with the Nord. The company states that if people don't like the camera, OnePlus must have messed up. While we put the claim to test for our OnePlus Nord review, here is a sample image of the primary sensor for your reference. The overall image offers a good amount of detail, even around the edges. The colours were also pretty accurate to the real world. Check the photo below to see an image shot using the ultrawide camera.

The 8MP ultrawide camera is almost as colour accurate as the main sensor but there is some amount of barrel distortion along the edges. So far, the colour temperature is more neutral, unlike previous OnePlus smartphones which had a more warmer or a cooler colour tone.

The performance unit is a heavyweight on-paper. OnePlus Nord packs a Snapdragon 765G, which is pretty impressive for its price. We have already seen how good the chipset performs in our Vivo X50 Pro review . The processor is paired with up to 12GB LPDDR4x RAM and 256GB UFS 2.1 storage. The device also packs a 4,100 mAh battery with Warp 30T fast charging solution. Day-to-day tasks will, without a doubt, perform smoothly and ideally, you should not face any lag while playing games either. Our OnePlus Nord review will cover the gaming performance to let you know if we experience any lag while playing some popular graphic-heavy games.

in case you are wondering, the Nord does not come with a 3.5mm headphone jack. the company does not ship a 3.5mm to Type-C adapter either and users will have to make a separate purchase or use any Bluetooth-paired earphones.
